    		ALLEX Begins 2005 Recruitment

    On June 1, 2004 ALLEX announced the beginning of its recruitment initiatives for its 2005 programs. Institutions interested in receiving a lecturer for fall 2005 should make initial contact with ALLEX this summer. The 2005 Letter of Agreement is available on our website.

    The application form for native Japanese students interested in the program will be available on July 15, 2004 on our website. Japanese applicants are strongly encouraged to attend information sessions in Tokyo or Osaka; admittance to the program is highly competitive. Dates will be announced shortly.

    		MLA to Announce Large Jump in Japanese Enrollment

    The Modern Language Association will announce the results of its most recent foreign language enrollment survey in its 2004 winter bulletin. Japanese enrollment in the United States is up more than 21% since 1998! A preview of this exciting report is posted on the ALLEX web site.
